U16 Ladies Football Championship Round 1
Clarecastle v Éire Óg
A strong second half performance and Clarecastle’s ability to score goals earned a victory on a score of 6-3 to 4-3 in the first round of the U16 Ladies Football Championship against Éire Óg in Éire Óg this morning.
Éire Óg had a good start scoring 1-1 inside the opening 5 mins. Clarecastle soon settled when Ciara Sexton scored a goal after ten minutes into the game. A further 2-1 from Éire Óg helped them to a 8 point lead at the break. Half time score 3-2 to 1-0.
In the second half Clarecastle were first on the scoreboard with scores from Charlotte O’Brien (1-1), Megan Healy (2-0) and Aimee Barrett (0-1) to stretch their lead. In the final 5 minutes Éire Óg scored their 4th goal but Clarecastle responded quickly with Emma O’Loughlin scoring (1-1), and a goal from Aoife Murphy to emerge as winners. Well done to all the girls on an excellent overall display.
