Clarecastle are through to the U17A Hurling Championship Final after a thrilling one point win over Scariff/Ogonnelloe in Sixmilebridge this afternoon.
In a competitive game to the final whistle, the Magpies held their nerves to claim victory by the narrowest of margins on a score of 1-20 to 1-19
Clarecastle got off to a good start with a goal from play by Sean Meere in the opening minute, setting his side for a strong first-half performance.
Further points from Jack Ellingstad, Rory Ralph, Harry O’Donoghue and Sean Kelly gave Clarecastle early control as they moved into a five-point lead by half time.
Half-Time: Clarecastle 1-9 (12) Scariff/Ogonnelloe 0-7 (7)
Clarecastle continued to push ahead after the restart with points from Ruairí Keogh, Sean Kelly, and Harry O’Donoghue extending their advantage to eight points early in the half.
However, Scariff/Ogonnelloe fought back hitting a number of points to close the gap to just two points entering the final minutes.
A late goal from Paul Rodger’s penalty brought the sides level at 1-19 a piece into injury time setting up a nail-biting finish.
Clarecastle won the puck out with Rory Ralph scoring a superb point from play in the final minute to edge his side ahead before the final whistle to secure a one point win.
