Our national language lives deep within the culture of the GAA, its preservation and nurturing an integral part of the association’s founding principles. Some 140 years on and that mission holds true today.

Clar Atha Da Corradh are proud to play our part. Almost a decade ago the GAA introduced an initiative to encourage the use of our native tongue across our clubs. Fonduireach Seosamh McDonnacha is named after former President of the Association and good friend to Clarecastle GAA, Joe McDonagh, and this will be our second year to take part having secured a bronze medal last year

Judging takes place this week and we wish to thank everyone who has supported this initiative throughout the year with lots of positive and fun events and space given to our teanga

We are making a concerted effort to use more gaeilge in our everyday interactions, as I'm sure you have noticed in our posts repeated in Irish across our social media channels.

By the close of 2025 we are hoping to be recognised with a Silver Medal for our efforts to promote our language and its use in everyday GAA club activities. This is very much a continuous process and we always welcome new members to our events, projects and committee. Fluency is not needed and beginners are very welcome.
