This game had everything from individual brilliance, scores fit for an All-Ireland final, point blank saves and goal line clearances.
Wolfetones got off to the perfect start, netting inside the first minute, only for the electric Lee Brack to get us back on track, striking 0-03 from play in the opening quarter.
It was tit for tat after this with both sides exchanging scores, with the pick of the bunch for us coming from Rhian Sheridan with a strike from distance and Scott Brack who split the posts from out on the sideline after plucking a long delivery from Fionn out of the sky.
At the other end, Nathan Casey produced a goal line clearance worthy of any highlights reel, but the Tones would eventually get their goal and took a minimum 2-06 to 0-11 lead into the break.
Just minutes after the restart , great work rate and vision from Cian O’Dell teed up Lee Brack who put his head down, went for the jugular and put us back in front with a well taken finish to the bottom left corner.
It was after this however that Tones landed two hammer blows , finding the back of our net twice , even in spite of a diving save from Fionn to eek out a 3-12 to 1-12 lead by the 45th minute.
But the lads didn’t relent and just moments after his introduction Jack Murphy sent a bullet to the Wolfe Tones net, only for the Shannon men to raise another green flag on their next attack, and soon reinstate a five point lead with as many minutes to go.
But the lads rallied again and this time Jack Hayes got an on the end of a long floating ball into the square and doubled to the net, with scores from Murph and Lee Brack to follow levelling the tie.
But in the last minute , a Wolfetones free would ultimately decide the result as they won out on a full time score of 4-14 (26) to 3-16 (25)
Well go again on Saturday August 23rd to face Tulla at the same venue.
